Insured Services: What is covered and what is not? Eye Examinations are covered by Alberta Health Services for patients up to 18 years of age and over the age of 65. Patients between the ages of 19-65 there is a fee for the exam, which would be due at the time of the appointment. We can direct bill Alberta Blue Cross for the portion they cover fo seniors eye glasses. Medically required and urgent eyecare are now covered by Alberta Health Services regardless of age. If you are having a new or acute eye health problem, experiencing pain or redness in your eye, please contact our office and we will see you as soon as possible. In the event of an eye emergency after normal office hours, please proceed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Emergency located at 10240 Kingsway Avenue Edmonton, Alberta. Our office can direct bill for patients with the following coverage: Alberta Blue Cross, Department of Indian Affairs, Union Benefits, AISH and Medical Services.
